8/19/12 4pm Made the Ferry early

Made it to the New London Ferry 2 hours early, because I was a bike...  they let me squeeze on an early boat.  : )

Can't wait for my next trip, they seem to end so quickly.

8/19/12 8am Making my trek back to Long Island

Leaving my cabin around 8am, hoping to catch the 6pm New London Ferry to Orient Point.

8/18/12 6:30pm Dinner at the Wildcatt Inn

Wildcatt Inn

Stopped by the Wildcatt Inn for dinner, nice quiet restaurant / bar with a great view of the mountains.

Half rack of ribs.. $10, not bad.

8/18/12 3:30pm Mount Washington Auto Road, fun/scary/cold

Mount Washington Auto Road

65f at the bottom...  By the time I got to the top, I was shaking like a leaf from the cold.  35f with 40mph winds...   will suck the heat right out of you.
The top was crowded like I have never seen, spent most of my time just trying to take pictures without other people in them.  Most people took the train up...  Some diesel powered knock off made to look like an old train.  I guess the original steam train I saw last time was in the shop.

No radiator on my ride...  just waiting for the engine to cool while I soak up the view.  Listening to the crackle of the exhaust.  Driving uphill for 8 miles straight at 10mph is rough on the old air cold technology.

The only level spot while driving up I could stop at, wish I could take pictures and video while going up but it takes full concentration.

Cog Railroad, keeps the train from sliding down the mountain.

Fake diesel trains taking over for the original steam train I saw on my last trip.

Museum inside the main building, must go through gift shop to get to it.  (they stole that move from Disney)

More clouds engulfing the mountain.

Mount Washington post office...  That's a tough delivery route.

My bike mixing in with the crowd.

Camera would not focus on me for some reason.

8/18/12 1pm Next stop, Kangamangus Highway / quick lunch at an overlook.

Kangamangus Highway

Driving the Kangamangus Highway on a perfect day, 65f and sunny...  no complaints.  Although I did run into some traffic because a large Truck / Fifth Wheel ran out of gas on the highway.  Guess they missed that sign stating (No gas, next 38 miles).  When you have a 2.2 gallon gas tank, you pay very close attention to these things.

Not really pointing at anything, just seemed like the thing to do.

8/18/12 11:30am Next stop, Franconia Notch continued / Old Man of the Mountain

The Old Man of the Mountain
All other attractions were slammed with tourists, (all overflow parking lots were full, people parking on the sides of the road as far as you can see...  luckily nobody was looking at The Old Man of the Mountain, just me and three other cars.  Will have to go back in the off season, only way to view all the attractions.)

I looked all over the mountain and saw no cannon.

Not the old man of the mountain, but pretty close...  I think the settlers were just board if you ask me.

Bike path and trail to The Old Man of the Mountain.

Picture doesn't do it justice, was the size of a coke can made of solid steel Was bent/twisted like a paper clip.
